About Us

Established in 2017 as a news site, the Kathmandu Tribune is now re-envisioned as a journal of literature and commentary. We’ve shifted our focus from the daily news cycle to the enduring power of words—exploring the intersection of art, culture, and society through a critical and creative lens.

In recent weeks, as Nepal has navigated a historic period of political and social upheaval, the need for a deeper, more reflective form of discourse has never been more apparent. The recent protests, driven by a generation demanding accountability and a new direction for the nation, underscore a profound yearning for a more just and transparent future.

In this age of misinformation and social media viral news, it is more critical than ever to empower young Nepalis with knowledge of their country’s political, economic, and geopolitical history, as well as its state structure and constitution. The Kathmandu Tribune aims to be a trusted resource in this endeavor, offering well-researched and thoughtful content that cuts through the noise. We believe that an informed citizenry is the bedrock of a strong democracy, capable of navigating not only domestic political challenges but also the complex geopolitical dynamics that shape our nation’s future.

Our mission is to provide a platform for insightful analysis, original literary works, and thoughtful dialogue that can help us all make sense of this new reality. We publish a wide range of content, including essays, short fiction, poetry, and in-depth reviews. Our contributors, both emerging and established, delve into complex ideas and share unique perspectives, all while upholding a commitment to intellectual rigor and artistic expression.

We believe that by engaging with literature and commentary, we can better understand our world and our place within it. The vision for a new Nepal is not just a political one—it’s a cultural and intellectual one. Join us as we explore the stories, ideas, and voices that will shape our collective future.
