Kathmandu Tribune Reimagined

When the Kathmandu Tribune first launched in 2017, it set out as an independent news site committed to covering Nepal with clarity and urgency. Eight years later, we recognize that the challenges facing our nation—and the stories that define us—demand more than quick headlines. They require reflection, depth, and dialogue.

Today, the Tribune enters a new chapter. We are reimagined as a journal of literature and commentary, a space where words are not bound by the daily news cycle but empowered to endure. Our pages will feature essays, short fiction, poetry, and critical reflections that examine the intersections of art, culture, politics, and society. Nepal is living through a time of profound change. Mass protests and civic movements reveal a generation unwilling to settle for silence, demanding accountability and justice.

At the same time, the Nepali diaspora—from Canada to the Gulf, from Europe to North America—carries with it stories, perspectives, and questions that remain inseparable from Nepal’s future. The Kathmandu Tribune seeks to bring these voices into conversation, weaving together the local and the global, the immediate and the timeless. This is not just a relaunch. It is an invitation to think harder, to speak honestly, and to write bravely.

The Kathmandu Tribune will be a meeting ground for ideas that challenge, stories that resonate, and voices that might otherwise go unheard. We are no longer only reporting on events. We are exploring their meaning. We are reimagining what a journal can be—for Nepal, for its diaspora, and for all who believe that literature and commentary can help us understand the world and our place within it.
